What is your business?  Moayyer Real Estate Group and Shah Saffron CBD (launches in June)

Why did you start your business?  My husband and I wanted to be in control of our careers and our financial future while helping people. We both have sales and management experience so we chose real estate because it's delivering happiness and excitement in a HUGE dose! We started the CBD company because we both found relief in cannabis and would rather use things that grow in nature to balance our bodies. 

How long have you in business?  A few years in real estate and have been working on the CBD the last year.

What would you tell someone who wants to start a business?  Figure out what you're good at, how you can solve a problem for people and how to get paid by doing it. I think some people, particularly women, shy away from the concept of making money from their talents but last time I checked, hugs and kisses don't pay the bills. If you're working for someone else, you're building their dream. What about YOUR dream?

What advice would you give them?  Find all the free resources you can, decide which ones are legit and can help you in your quest and take partners who will give you honest feedback and aren't afraid to hurt your feelings. Be ready for rejection! But keep in mind, it's not you they're rejecting, it's what you are offering. I get turned down all the time but after I hear a certain number of 'No thanks,' I take myself out and buy some new shoes or something to make me feel good--but not food. I'm not a dog. 

What is unique about you that helps you be successful in business?   I have had over 26 jobs in my life! LOL I'm not a job hopper but most of the time, I had more than one job at a time. I like to make things happen and thrive on my results making people happy. 

What sets you apart from every other business in your field?   When it comes to real estate, my husband, Tony, and I balance each other. We often butt heads because we think differently but we compliment each other and make 100% of a solid person. He's the Visionary and I'm the Implementer. In these roles, we thrive! We're able to do what we're wired to do, learn and partner together. What's the end result? We're growing and helping more people every day. In the CBD world, we've tapped into Tony's Persian heritage and his Mom's ways and infused saffron into our line. Saffron is a powerful antioxidant that brings so many health benefits to the properties of CBD, thus allowing us to share a natural solution to so many ailments. 

What is one major thing you learned about business?   STOP LISTENING TO YOUR HEART. This is BUSINESS. Don't let your emotions guide your business decisions; the two should never meet. When your gut tells you something like, "This is not the right person for the job," LISTEN UP. You'll save money and time, which is our most valuable commodity. And if you take anything away from this answer, GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING. People are not your friends just because you've hired them to do a job or you're working together. Protect yourself and stop worrying about their feelings or if you'll be perceived as not trusting them. You'll thank me later. 

What is the one thing you attribute to your success?   When I hit a barrier, I think creatively to overcome and create a new solution. When my ideas don't work or the outcome is not what I want, I go back to the drawing board and figure out where I went awry. As long as I'm failing forward, I'm in good shape. We're going to make mistakes and so will our partners, vendors and stakeholders. I try to remember to treat people the way I want to be treated and apologize when I don't. We're all human and the easiest way to stop an argument is four little words...You might be right.
